Before you begin
You need the ZIP downloaded by the One-Tap Business App Builder and access to an email address for a Netlify account.
- Keep the downloaded ZIP intact.
- Know where your browser saves downloads.
- Have your phone available for testing.
- Check every phone number and destination link.
You normally do not need to unzip the LikeAnApp package. Netlify’s current Drop quickstart accepts a project folder or ZIP file. If your particular upload screen rejects the ZIP, unzip it once and drag the resulting folder instead.
Publish the ZIP
- Create or open your Netlify account.
Visit Netlify and sign in. A free account is sufficient for many small personal and business pages. - Open Netlify Drop.
Go to the drag-and-drop publisher while signed in to the team where you want the website saved. - Drag in your LikeAnApp ZIP.
Drag the complete downloaded ZIP onto the upload area. Wait while Netlify publishes it. - Open the new address.
Netlify provides an address ending innetlify.app. Open it in a new browser tab. - Keep the Netlify project.
The project dashboard is where you will later change its name, connect a domain or upload an update.
Test before sharing
Publishing successfully does not guarantee that every detail you entered is correct. Test the live website—not only the preview inside the builder.
- Open every action button and confirm its destination.
- Test call and text buttons on a phone.
- Check spelling, hours, prices and contact information.
- Open the installation instructions on the device your visitors are likely to use.
- Install the page and reopen it from the Home Screen.
- After one successful online visit, briefly test the built-in page without a connection. External links will still require their own connection.
Do not rely on an untested page for emergency, medical, safety or time-sensitive information.
Change the Netlify site name
Netlify initially assigns a random project name. In the project
settings, look for the option to change the project or site name.
If the name is available, the public address changes to something
like your-business.netlify.app.
After changing the address, update any QR codes, printed materials or saved links that used the old address.
Publish an updated version
- Return to the LikeAnApp builder and create the corrected page.
- Download the new ZIP.
- Open the existing project in Netlify. Do not create a different project.
- Open the project’s Deploys area and find the manual deployment drop zone.
- Drop in the new ZIP or its unzipped folder. Netlify publishes it as the newest version at the same address.
- Reload the live page and test the changes. Installed copies may need to be closed and reopened while the offline cache updates.
Netlify retains deploy history, so an earlier deployment may remain available for recovery through your Netlify dashboard.
Using your own domain is optional
The free netlify.app address works without purchasing
a domain. A custom domain can make the page easier to remember and
more professional, but it is not required for a QR code or Home
Screen installation.
If you already own a domain, open the project’s Domain management area, choose Add a domain, and follow Netlify’s instructions for either Netlify DNS or your existing DNS provider. The exact DNS records depend on the domain and provider.
If something does not work
The upload is rejected
Unzip the LikeAnApp package once. Confirm that
index.html is directly inside the resulting folder,
then drag that folder into Netlify Drop.
The page shows “Page not found”
The most common cause is an extra enclosing folder. The deployed
top level must contain index.html.
An old version still appears
Reload the page, close and reopen the installed app, or wait briefly for its service worker to update. Avoid clearing all browser storage if the device contains unrelated locally stored tools or documents.
A button does nothing
Return to the builder and verify the complete phone number, email
address or web address. Web destinations should normally begin
with https://.
The site reaches a free-plan limit
Review current usage in Netlify. Netlify states that Free plan projects pause at the plan’s monthly limit rather than creating an unexpected overage charge. Plans and limits can change, so confirm the current terms in your account.
About this recommendation
LikeAnApp™ is not affiliated with, endorsed by or compensated by Netlify. Netlify is suggested because its drag-and-drop workflow is approachable for static websites and it offers a useful free plan. Netlify controls its own interface, pricing, limits and terms, which may change. Always review the current information provided by Netlify.
